Introduced in Europe in the 18th century, this superfood cactus quickly adapted throughout the south as well as in the Maghreb.
Maintaining these resistant plants in an arid environment makes it possible to shelter and develop an entire ecosystem, thus ensuring the preservation of biodiversity.
PROPERTIES
Calcium helps reduce the loss of bone mineral density in postmenopausal women (50 years and over). Low bone mineral density is a risk factor for osteoporotic fractures*.
8 g of nopal, or approximately 3 level tsp, contains 630 mg of calcium. Magnesium helps reduce fatigue and the normal functioning of the nervous system.
(*) All sources of intake combined, the daily intake of calcium for women aged 50 and over is at least 1200 mg.
USAGE
Its good content of mucilaginous fibre (pectin) gives preparations a velvety texture: smoothies, sauces, dressings or incorporated into a guacamole or a dip.
Recommended dose: 1 tsp 3 times a day.
